Beit She'an (Scythopolis)
Beit She'an - also known as Scythopolis - was a prosperous Roman city during the time of Jesus' first-century ministry.
The city was part of the independent city-states known as the Decapolis. Scythopolis, the leading city of the Decapolis, was the only Decapolis city to exist west of the Jordan River.
